Recruiters are utilizing LinkedIn to find talent consistently! If you're not active on LinkedIn, you might be limiting your visibility to recruiters. LinkedIn is the largest professional networking tool online. For individuals in career transition, an updated LinkedIn profile is a must.

Your LinkedIn profile should be filled out completely. A complete profile allows you to use LinkedIn proactively to build your network, develop your expertise, find job leads, and connect with recruiters and hiring managers at companies of your choice. You should get yourself connected by signing up at LinkedIn.com.
Here are some important sections to fill out on your profile:
Work Experience: Use your most recent experience. Insert your responsibility scope and add a few accomplishment stories for each role.
Honors & Awards: Don't be shy!
Projects: Include school and side entrepreneurship projects.
Education and Certifications: Start with high school if you are a university student and start with College if you have work experience.
Skills: ADD 50! Connections can endorse your skills.
Organizations: List clubs or organizations outside of school.
Volunteer Work: Volunteer work is valuable work.
Understanding how recruiters search is key to increasing your visibility. Your engagement levels and keywords are important. Keywords are a Major Key! In almost every resume search, recruiters look for keywords, application date, or other details.
To increase your visibility on LinkedIn, ensure your profile includes these must-haves:
Pic or Headshot
Create a Banner (use Canva or LinkedIn AI tools)
Clear Headline
Engaging Summary, reflecting your personal brand and highlights as a candidate
ADD KEYWORDS IN YOUR PROFILE (e.x., "Fall 2025" for students or "Program Manager" for seasoned professionals)
Take Skills Assessments and add certificates to your profile
Turn on "Open to Work"
Additional tips to boost visibility:
Ensure your settings are updated (recruiters can't see you if private).
Use all sections and utilize the "Features Section" (highlight posts, projects, resume).
Connect with the right recruiters and ENGAGE with their content (Like, share, comment on posts). Follow key people to be notified when they post.
Join Groups & Follow Company Pages – you can message recruiters in the same groups for free.
Attend LinkedIn Events! Reach out and connect with others attending.
CUSTOMIZE your reach outs & Connection Requests.
Ask others to write a recommendation for you (peer, coworkers, project team member, professors, advisors, community leaders).
Tag others in your posts or comments (The LinkedIn algorithm likes this).
LinkedIn is also a place to look for jobs, specifically finding the Recruiter. Remember, when reaching out on LinkedIn, prioritize quality over quantity of connections. Customize your message and try to make a mutual connection. Don't start with an ask. Recruiters find it unprofessional to immediately ask for a referral, state "here's my resume, let me know if anything is a fit," ask if they have time to talk about opportunities, or ask them to check on an unrelated job application. If you meet someone at an event, follow up and stay connected. Always attach your resume and quote the job number you've applied to. Don't be afraid to follow up in a polite & professional manner.
These tips are beneficial for you whether you are building your professional brand, networking, or looking for a job.
